Did you know that you can significantly reduce your carbon footprint by choosing the optimal business premises?
When your business premises are in a central location, it’s easier for you to make environmentally friendly choices in terms of mobility. The city centre is easily accessible from any direction, even by public transport or by bicycle. The city centre is also an optimal choice in terms of culturally and historically significant and sustainable construction, because its buildings have been designed to last for centuries.
The type of energy your premises use – and how efficiently is also important. All the electricity that you use in our premises is carbon-neutral. When we build new premises, we always explore the possibility of using solar power. For example, our office building on Porkkalankatu has the largest property-specific solar power plant in Helsinki. We require new buildings to have at least Gold-level LEED environmental certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used global environmental rating system for buildings. Its criteria are continuously becoming stricter with technological development, and the system also helps tenants to commit to its environmental targets.
We are also continuously developing our operations to make our properties even more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. We are leading the way in seeking solutions. For example, we built a completely carbon-neutral property in Postipuisto in Helsinki.
In addition to new construction, our environmental thinking covers recycling and reuse. Since 2020, we have recycled discarded materials in accordance with RAKLI’s Green Deal agreement. For example, discarded insulation and thermal glass is used as a raw material for glass wool. RAKLI, a cooperation organisation for the real estate sector in Finland, has also recognised our environmental efforts in other ways: over the years, we have been selected as Developer of the Year, thanks to our long-term sustainability development.
Our premises support the WWF Green Office approach, which provides an effective model for reducing the carbon footprint of the workplace and promoting wiser use of natural resources. All our premises have already been designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, beginning with water-efficient bathroom fixtures, LED lights and waste recycling systems. As our tenant, you will not only be working in healthy and safe business premises; you will also be able to easily contribute to a cleaner environment.
